Our friend Hal is staying here on Thursday night so he and Ben can go duck hunting Friday morning. Ben did very well in mentioning this to me as early as Monday.
Me: You should make some of your moose stew for him to try when he gets here.
Ben: He's going to be late
Me: How late?
Ben: I don't know. Late.
Me: You could have it for breakfast when you get back from duck hunting on Friday morning.
Ben: ...left blank intentionally...
Now, the real question is why did it never occur to Ben that it might be a good idea to have a general sense of when Hal might show up? Not that it matters all that much in the scheme of things but if I know someone is going to be here at mealtime I have a tendency to do a bit more meal planning than I do if it's just us.
I hope that I can convince Sam that collecting and sharing general information is a positive trait.
