Technical Difficulties

The party this afternoon was fun although there were bonfire technical difficulties. It seems that more than a foot of snow and a big pile of brush don't mix. Snow was pushed off the stack in select locations to allow air flow through the pile, the wood was covered with some sort of flammable fluid, and straw was added to the mix for a nice big woosh and flash followed by a whole lot of smoke.

We ended up leaving before the end of the party because our little dude thought a 15 minute nap on the way there was sufficient but his generally anti-social party behavior proved he was wrong. In a sea of two and three year olds he seemed to be the only one having regular meltdowns. Things may very well have changed on the fire front soon after we left allowing for cooking hotdogs and s'mores as planned because the pile was being approached by people bearing shovels. Not that we were hungry as we had had a feast of goat curry (the goat had a name that I can't remember at the moment but he spent too much time destroying fences thus his new incarnation as dinner), veggie chili, homemade mac & cheese followed by Finn's birthday cake.

All in all a fun party. Too bad Sam necessitated an early departure.
