The search for the scent

Ack! Did you ever wake up in the morning and realize that your house smells but you can’t find the source? Take out the garbage, do some basic cleaning, clean out the dog crate, search for any undesirable substances underfoot, check the refrigerator for unintended growth but nope, foiled. The cloying nasty odor is still wafting through the air. Suddenly realization hits! Tuesday morning Sam was delighted to see me knock a gallon of milk off the counter and was especially impressed with the resultant mess. It required a good mopping. I’d tucked away the mop bucket in the mudroom afterward but didn’t clean out the mop well enough and ewwwww! Yup, the source of the nastiness.

Monday I took Little Dude ice skating for the first time and it was an outstanding success! The local rink has an “Itty Bitty Skating” open skate so they’re prepared for total novices. The instructor handed us a couple of milk crates and Sam immediately started to get those things sliding across the ice with lots of slipping but little falling. By the end of about 10 minutes he was doing this without my help and was guiding the crated between the little cones that were set up on the ice. Of course I took pictures but with my phone and it appears that the only way to get the pictures off the (&*%^( phone is by signing up for internet service for the phone which I have no intention of doing. So you’ll just have to imagine it.

The only downside of the skate is that I got a cramp in my right calf I just couldn’t shake. I guess the fact that I haven’t skated in, oh, five years or more is showing.

Yay! Another fun activity for Sam to burn off some energy in the winter - good call!

Too bad it doesn't solve the after dark issue though - maybe the government should sponsor a midnight T - Ball league...

Great idea. Next time, give me a call. I think I fall into the novice category, and could take a few spins and spills with you two.

Mmmm...rancid milk. There's nothing better smelling! Makes me think of the time that, for whatever reason, the boy thought it would be a good idea to pour some leftover milk from his cereal into the garbage can in his bedroom. !!!?? We pondered the source of that for days.

Ice skating? What's that? Did Sam actually get to wear little tiny skates?? So cute!!

Sam actually got to wear tiny little skates and they weren't the double blades either. Miniature adult ones and very very cute.

Too bad you don't live near here or I'd drag you and Abbie with us the next time we go.
