I seem to have ended up on a republican phone list despite the fact that I'm not one. I bet I get at least four calls a week from people wanting me to listen to some taped message or other, and then get outraged and vocal. I usually screen ALL calls but every time I have my Pavlovian response to the phone ringing and pick it up in error it's one of those annoying calls. The one I got moments ago wanted me to listen to a message by a republican I can't remember about Hilary Clinton "aiding and abetting our enemies." If anyone is interested in getting these calls and actually responding instead of saying "I'm going to hang up now", I'd be happy to give them your phone number.
We've got a long crappy weather weekend ahead. Very low temps and lots of winds, perhaps some snow and rain just to keep it fun. This wouldn't be such a bad thing except that Sam is in destructo baby mode lately so there will be very little peace and quiet and a whole lot of "Sam, NO!" as he disassembles things. I tried to bribe him by making cookies today but that just got me a sticky mess and cookie begging. I followed this fun with taking Kirby to the vet where Sam managed to have several tantrums over the space of an hour.
I'd like to go back to Chicago now thank you.
Oh, Beth mentioned in the comments section that I'd neglected to mention that the day we got to the Drake in Chicago we heard a news report about norovirus at the Drake. I just did a search for the story and found this: http://www.pritzkerlaw.com/Chicago_Food_Poisoning/Index.aspx Oh man! The lawyers are circling! The somewhat amusing thing about this is that Beth was in Chicago because of a law conference and now she's learned that many of the people from her conference became ill while they were there. We were fortunate and haven't come down it which we attribute to luck, lots of handwashing, and the fact that we went didn't really eat there although Beth did risk it one morning. She sent me notices that were pushed under our door, one from the hotel sort of saying sort of what happened and the other from the Chicago Health Department saying that it was all clear and I meant to scan them in and post them but hey, scanning is a pain and I haven't done it yet. Ah yes, these are the things I DON'T miss by no longer working in the food industry.

What? The norovirus is going to result in a big lawsuit and payoff? Dang! Now I wish I HAD contracted it!
Well - maybe not.
