Exploiting government property for our amusement

Today we spent a bit of time in Montpeculiar as some people in the area call our state capitol. We met up with our friends Rachel and Finn and made a morning of trying to wear out the boys on the capitol grounds and in the statehouse. As we went inside I told Sam that he had to be quiet in the building so the first thing he did was scream. We made a quick exit, had a brief discussion, and eventually made our way back into the building. Good thing it was lunchtime and the house and senate weren’t in session. I thought he should go see what Senate Appropriations was up to.

But I digress. Finn and Sam were born the same day and it’s fun to see the two of them together because they’re fairly similar in personality and development. And lack of sense. On the lawn there are multiple tulip beds that are raised beds – they basically have a curb around them. Sam’s first impulse was to pick the not-yet-open tulips and after convincing him that that was inappropriate behavior, he decided that what he really needed to do was to stand on the curb facing the tulip beds and fall straight back onto the grass. Rachel and I cringed to see him hit the ground but he laughed and laughed and that convinced Finn he needed to join in the fun. They both did it repeatedly; Sam only cried once. I think these two are going to need a good chiropractor one day soon.
Now, if I had the skills, I’d have a fun little slide show for you here but you’re going to have to do it yourself. Look at one picture, then the other, then back again as fast as you can. See it? They’re doing the wave! Ah, the joys of the digital camera where I can actually flip the pictures back and forth. And you get to suffer for my amusement.
