This evening we were at our neighbor's house and Sam was weeding her flower bed (why can't he ever help with mine or just let me weed it?) when he wandered on up to the patio with a distinctive cowboy stride. You know, the one that looks as though he's been riding for hours and hours? Marilyn roared with laughter saying she hadn't seen that in years since all her kids are adults.
Now that Sam is moving into discomfort minimization perhaps he's nearing the time when he really wants to use the potty. This morning he told me "Ronan wears underpants and Ella wears underpants and Janice wears underpants" so he's aware that not everyone in his class at school is still in diapers. Today he pooped in the cute little mini toilets they have at school. I wonder if peer pressure is pushing him toward potty training? Will the stars align and the elements converge for an overnight training situation?
I'm not holding my breath. But I do want to make sure that the videocamera is available to capture the cowboy walk just in case.

In this case...peer pressure CAN be a wonderful thing...In Caitlin's case, my plan was to have her trained by the time Robin arrived (she was 2 1/2) but she seemed to have other plans. In the end, all it took was a trip to Toys R US where she picked out the little mermaid panties as the ones she wanted for big girl pants, and of course, a trip to every public restroom we passed while out and about. Robin trained herself without my knowledge (that one has always and still is, very very self sufficient), completely trained by the time she turned two.
ahh..the beloved cowboy walk.
Speaking of potty training stories, I remember buying some Jelly Bellies and bribing Lukas that if he used the potty, he would get a jelly bean. Well, I guess I wasn't clear on the terms, because I recall he wet his pants, and then asked for jelly beans. I guess his little mind thought all he had to do was pee, but not in a specific place.
I only just figured this out now!
I thought the cowboy walk indicated strained hamstring muscles from crouching over a garden bed - I know I get that when I garden!
Duh.
