Our politicians are everywhere. I guess it's partially because the state is so small and the number of politicians are way out of proportion but they are around on a very regular basis.
Today I met some friends and we went to the Leahy Echo Center to keep the kids entertained on this rainy day and see if we could catch a little chat time. Guess who we saw there? Senator Patrick Leahy. Guess he must have been checking out his domain but he was wandering around with a couple of people giving them a tour. He waved and said hi to me as Sam demonstrated the perfect use of the water exhibit where the kids get to control water flow, play with boats, etc.
I'm not sure why he was in town, probably for the elections although he was not up for reelection this time around. Vermont elections went pretty much as expected, no major upsets. A mix of very far left democrats, progressives, and independents and leftward-leaning republicans. We weren't the first state to have civil unions for nothing.

Senator Leahy is cool! I think he was here to campaign for Bernie and Peter Welch.
Interesting that Vermont voted a republican governor for another term, but also Bernie, the socialist for the senate...lol
