10 long years

Today is our ten year anniversary. As Ben would say, it seems like FOREVER!

So far we’ve celebrated by:

Spending last night apart - Ben slept on the couch because he was coughing and coughing and wasn’t inspired to make the bed in the guest room. I spent the night making sure Sam was ok because he woke up coughing up a lung (complete with vomit sounds but no actual vomit) at 8:30. After googling whooping cough in classic mommy overreaction mode I called a friend of mine whose daughter has been fighting a month-long battle of the nighttime cough for advice. She said the doctor recommended Benedryl to dry out the stuff trickling down his throat. Worked like a charm, thank goodness although I don’t imagine it hurt that Benedryl has a side effect of knocking you out.

Taking the remote control bulldozer away from Sam – I got to do that because it’s nice and loud and Ben was sleeping on the couch. So Sam protested loudly before I could distract him. Good morning Ben!

Working – me

Sitting on the couch watching bad tv – Ben (at least that’s the plan so he’ll feel better by tonight)

We have plans to go out to dinner all by ourselves tonight. What a concept! Given the events above, we’ll have to see if it actually comes to fruition.

What? We don’t seem as though we’re overly sentimental? I’d have to say that’s an accurate statement. But I am glad we’ve made it to 10 years and look forward to many more!

Update: We got a call from daycare and they kicked him out for having a fever. Poor kid. So dinner is off for tonight. Ah yes, 10 years and sick kid = one heck of an anniversary.

Oh and in comments Beth mentioned that it's time for a new car. Appropriate because out car predates our wedding -- Ben helped me pick it out when we first started dating. Let's see, the 10th anniversary is the aluminum anniversary so does that mean the car needs to be made from aluminum?
