Proof of parenting

Parenting has brought out some unexpected behavior on my part, things that I never expected. Two of the most recent incidences are outlined below.

Incident #1: Sam’s hair is too long and he doesn’t like me to brush it so I took him to get his hair cut.

Parent moment: After she was done cutting his hair I asked if she could give me a trim so I got my hair cut surrounded by chairs shaped like jeeps (Sam’s selection for his hair cut), motorcycles, merry-go-round ponies, pink Cadillacs, etc. I did not, however, get a lollipop and balloon. In my pre-parenting days I would have gone somewhere they actually washed my hair, maybe even given me a little scalp massage.

Incident #2: I’m coughing, coughing, coughing, and can’t get to sleep. There may have been a bottle of cough suppressant somewhere in the house at some point but I can’t find it anywhere.

Parent moment: I raided the bottle of infant Tylenol that is supposed to be a decongestant and cough suppressant. It has a little medicine dropper and I take 6 full droppers of the stuff. Oh my, that stuff is NASTY. But it, along with a couple of cups of nice hot tea and the humidifier made it possible to sleep last night.
