Home again home again jiggity jig

I managed to make it home from Arkansas without a single flying snafu; I'm not sure how that happened given my last three trips but I'm not complaining. Thank you Delta.

Glad to be home but I'd be happier still if my sister could just uproot her family and bring them here. Why doesn't the world revolve around my needs anyway?

Arkansas is a bit different than anywhere I've lived, that's for sure. As we headed home from the highway we saw a huge billboard that said "Liquor Store - Next 5 counties dry" so we stopped to stock up on necessities. Knowing the area was dry made me want to drink just because they didn't want me to do it.

And it wasn't warm. As Lukas used to say, "What the?" If I'm heading south I want to be warm damn it! I wanted to sit on the front porch in the swing Lisa made (while she was pregnant of course) and enjoy the sunshine.

But I got to see my adorable (of course) new nephew and oh yeah, the rest of the family too. We ate out a lot and I discovered that vegetables aren't a big priority in Arkansas. While I don't miss the actual vegetables, it made me feel guilty because I know I should eat them but when in Rome....

Oh, and Lukas played the piano at open mike at one of the local restaurants. I couldn't do that - keep me as far away from an audience as possible so I admire his ability to go up there and do it! His newest song is "The Entertainer" by Scott Joplin and I think I heard that song at least five hundred million billion times while I was there. To make sure that it was ingrained in my head the pianist at the Atlanta airport food court (no, I'm not kidding) played it too. Lukas did great but you know, that place had peanuts in shells on the tables and NO BEER! It just seems wrong.

I feel as though there should be some terrific stories about the things we did and the very clever conversations we had but no, I seem to have forgotten everything. Wait, wait, something is coming to me now. We watched "Shawn of the Dead" and oh my, I've never laughed so hard at a "horror" movie in my life! It won't give you nightmares, no way.

Abbie gets to be one of the village people in "The Boy Who Called Wolf." Imagine a group of 5 and 6 year olds doing a play. It was absolute chaos, worse than herding cats, but I'm still amused that a group of little girls are being called the Village People. Which one is the construction worker?

But now I'm home and Sam and I spent the day running around and doing fun things like spilling all the bubble stuff he got from the Easter bunny, playing with stomp rockets, going to the library, and wandering around downtown. I missed him while I was gone and he'd have had a great time had he come with me.

In our wanderings today we stopped in at work. He saw my desk and said "The Easter bunny came to your work mama!" And so he had, or maybe it was the Easter Bethy, but someone left purple bunny Peeps on my keyboard. Sam was thrilled but I convinced him that the only way to eat them was to allow them to age for awhile. How long does it take for them to turn into little sugar bunny rocks?

Shawn of the Dead is a GREAT movie. Love it.

Oh, and as for the peeps, poke a hole in the wrapper and they'll go stale faster.

Stale peeps? Oh my goodness, no! They need to be fresh and spring-y!

Well, actually, I condone ALL peep eating, of any nature, so go for it.

Thanks for the recommendation of Shawn of the Dead. It's been on my netflix cue for months, and now I will move it up towards the top!

Welcome home. Did Sam have a nice easter?
