May Day! May Day!

For us here at casa de Sammy, May Day brought this:

Potential impetigo. And exactly how did I discover this? Tuesday morning I brought Sam over to daycare and mentioned that when Sam was at daycare on Monday he seems to have eaten something that caused an allergic reaction because there was a rash around his mouth. The teacher told me that there was a kid at the center that had been diagnosed with impetigo on Monday night. If that's what it is, and even the pediatrician wasn't sure, then he couldn't return to daycare for 24 hours after starting treatment, an ointment with a $27 COPAY for 15 grams. My god the drug companies are crazy. But that means he's been kicked out of school twice in two weeks. Then I had to call our friends with small kids and give them the news that we may an evil disease vector. The thing that kills me is that he feels perfectly fine! He rode his bike to the doctor, played outside, whined, etc. All the things he does when he's fine.

Oh, and it's my busy season at work -- up to my eyebrows in things that needed to be done a month ago. Yesterday I missed a full day meeting and no, Ben wasn't around to watch him...he was off turkey hunting and didn't get home until 1:30 and didn't get settled in until 2:30 so it was too late to drive 45 minutes to the meeting to catch the last 45 minutes and drive 45 minutes home again. I'm going to work this afternoon when Ben gets back from....turkey hunting!

I used to handle this with a $3 tube of Neosporin. Doesn't it work anymore? Is he better today;?

Doc's didn't recommend it and I didn't think of it although I did put some bacitracin on it before I got the expensive cream.

He's better but then again, he never really seemed sick. It wasn't bothering him in the least.
