Remember me talking about Sam and his money? When do the lessons about spending money begin? Is he ready? Today he decided he wanted to use some of this money so after a little jaunt around the farmer's market (we ate samosas, mmmmmm) and an attempt to keep Sam out of the fountain we headed to "a play that has toys" to see what he could buy. He headed directly to the section where all the expensive toys are located where he coveted the Playmobile airplane and a succession of Thomas the Overpriced Train Engine sets before I brought him to the section with the bins of cheapie toys because even though he has been known to steal, he can't afford the good stuff.
His first ever expenditure was on this:
He was thrilled as he left the store plane and receipt in hand and a whole lot lighter in the pocket (it was almost all change). It now looks like this as the result of a violent collision with his butt in the carseat on the way home:
One of the main reasons he picked this particular toy is that he's had one in a different color for about two years and this one has the engines. The old one has been well-loved, repaired multiple times and overall, I think his first investment will be one he enjoys. Welcome to the friendly skies of Broken Airways.
