Last week as I was walking home from work a man I often see as I walk home from work offered me some flowers. No, it wasn't a romantic thing, he has some sort of business or hobby where he's always collecting flowers, antiques, and things that really look like trash but I don't know what he does with it all. I accepted and aren't they beautiful? The little vase has flowers Sam picked for me in our yard.
Ben was surprisingly disinterested in the strange man giving me flowers.
This weekend I while Sam and I were out running around looking for one particular train I found an ATM card on the ground in the parking lot. I pocketed it and tried to call the bank that issued it to let them know but bah, impossible phone recordings made it impossible so I waited until I got home to call the card owner. When she called back she was very relieved as she'd spent the afternoon worried about what had happened to the card. I mailed it back to her and forgot about it.
Today in the mail I received this:
Sometimes in the fog of my day to day existence I forget that there are lots of kind people out there. I fear I am rarely one of them although I have been know to do something nice every now and then.
Do something for someone else, it feels good! If you want to do something nice right now, say Happy Birthday to my Mom!
*per Lisa's request the card reads:
Dear Anne,
Thank you so much for returning my card. It's scary when you lose it these days. It's also refreshing to learn that honest and caring people like you still exist.
