Today I dropped Sam off at daycare and he headed right for the computer. He loves that thing and is amazingly good at using the mouse.
While he was distracted by the electronic monster I had a little chat with the teacher. I told her that Sam seems much happier at school this year, although I didn't tell her that I think it's because they run a fairly loose ship there and he can move from activity to activity very easily. To their credit, they've always got a lot of interesting stuff ready to go first thing in the morning. She told me that Sam is "very advanced for his age" and "very smart." Such a nice thing to hear, you know? I know he's bright but I'm his mom and I'm required to say that.
We also touched on his manners (always a work in progress) and his O.K.S. - Only Kid Syndrome. He has trouble sharing. This is not news to us and is one of the reasons he's in daycare. He's challenged there in ways we can't at home. Well, I could come and grab his train away from him while he's playing with it although then he'd likely be traumatized and require years of counseling to deal with the angst.
