The letdown

Yesterday my brother Joe and sister-in-law Lorie headed back to Montana. They'd been here for the better part of a week and we did typical touristy things like go to a Civil War reenactment (ok, that's not typical but it was interesting), see fall foliage in the Northeast Kingdom, wander Church Street, take a ride along the bike path, wander Smugglers Notch, and of course, eat. Whenever someone comes to visit here we always eat too much and regret it later but isn't that part of a vacation?

Sam had a wonderful time and now considers Aunt Lorie and Uncle Joe among his favorite people. You too can earn "favorite person" status -- all it takes is undivided attention to curry favor with this little dude.
I like having company but why does it generally result in a letdown? The day people leave it always feels as though there is a hole in my life...

Yeah...I know what you mean. I feel a little letdown, and I wasn't even there.
