Summer lasted about 3 weeks this year, all in August. It's over now and the air is a bit nippy at night but the days have been beautiful so we've been trying to take advantage of them.
Sam and I met Susan at the Stowe bike path, Sam on his very heavy but very cute bike. We meandered along the path and all the bridges crossing the river, trying to stress bike path etiquette, and stopping to explore river banks, little parks and a corn maze along the way.
Where else do you get mountain views in the corn maze?
Of course, as soon as we got in we had an emergency solved by this. These should be strategically located throughout the maze.
In the middle of the maze we found this. It didn't help. When we finally reached the end we were told that the secret was "always turn right." A little late for us!
On the way back, Sam ditched his bike. At least there was a nice soft grass cushion. Notice I was taking pictures rather than helping him.
After eight miles, we went for ice cream, headed home, ate dinner, and went to a neighborhood marshmallow roast.
A near perfect day.
