I knew things weren't going to adhere to the original schedule when the first words I heard in the morning were "Mommy? I feel like I'm going to throw up."
Those words got me out of bed in a nanosecond but he had it under control. I must say I'm very thankful that Sam has learned the proper procedure for dealing with these situations.
In that moment, my day went from being full of school and Sam-related activities to a day at home nursing Sam. No volunteering at the school book fair, no taking Sam to school or to his art class, no picking up the pizza for the school fundraiser, and no birthday or Christmas related errands in between.
The funny thing was that it felt nice not to have to do those things. Except for feeling bad for my poor sick whiny little boy and tending to his needs during the day, it was a very nice and generally productive day.
We're now on day two of this bug but he's definitely on the upswing. He's eating again!

Feel better Sam I am. ;-) Sometimes a kid's sick day is sort of like a snow day. It forces you to stop.
