Remember the garden? It's going to be on the Flynn Garden Tour! Well, not specifically our little garden experiment, more the yard of the people who host the garden. We're hoping our portion lives up to their yard although it's unlikely given that her garden is gorgeous and ours is a working garden.
Our lettuce, Sidney's backdrop.
Fava beans!
Shallots!
The first cucumber.
Rows of beans, beets, and assorted other vegetables.
Things are growing well despite the very hot weather.
But now there are accent pieces to set off the garden. The garden show pairs up gardeners with artists and our neighbor's artist is John Brickels. I've seen his work in one of the local galleries and found it fascinating but in the context of the garden, his work is stunning. Most of the sculptures are in the rocks. They blend in at first glance, the clay nearly the color of the rocks.
Once they've caught your eye, the whimsy and detail requires a closer look.
See how nicely it sets off our greens?
This twisty little guy in the front has no doors or windows. Inside looking in, outside looking out.
There are cars in the rocks!
An accident waiting to happen?
Or maybe an accident has already happened.
Flat tires! Sam asked the artist why they were flat and he told Sam "I'm just not very good at making tires."
They look as though they belong there and should stay forever. He wouldn't miss them, would he?
