Sam found a nice big feather. Ah ha! It must be made into a pen! I talked him out of making a quill pen and convinced him that if he used the insert of a ball-point pen he wouldn't need to carry around a bottle of ink. With a little hot glue, we made that feather into a wonderful feather pen.
But how can he carry his new feather pen around with him so when he is inspired with his next great idea he whip it out and jot it down? A hat of course! He must make a hat in which to carry the feather.
He designed the hat. I assisted with the cardboard engineering. The finished product!
The Mad Hatter! He wore his hat when we visited the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum and he received many compliments and admiring nods.
How could you not love this hat?

I think Sam just did Ben one better: Ben has reverted to the IBM Selectric, so Sam has gone totally 18th century!!
