We couldn't be doodless!

Bonny will be going home to her original family in July. I can't stand the idea of the house being empty and had been contemplating the possibility of going to the humane society and finding a dog to keep me company when she's gone.

Last week my former boss, Peter, came to the office for a colleague's retirement party and mentioned that he and his wife Donna have puppies at home and that if someone was interested they'd be ready in a couple of weeks. My ears perked up and when I asked him what kind of dogs they were he told me they were golden doodles! I told him I was interested. What timing! It's as though it was meant to be.

He emailed pictures. Deadly cute of course.

So I'm taking a big, big, step! When the puppies are ready in about two and a half weeks, Sammy and I will be proud parents of this little guy.

In theory, he's the calmest dog in the litter. His mom is a stately, calm, white standard poodle and his dad is a crazy, beautiful, smart as-a-box-of-rocks golden retriever . I'm hoping for reasonably intelligent and a personality much more similar to his mom's than his dad. Peter and Donna described him as the calmest of the puppies and although he wasn't named, he's now being called "Sam's puppy."

I'm thinking perhaps he's really going to be "Anne's puppy" but I do hope he bonds well with Sam. What 7 year old doesn't love a dog?

Especially one who will untie your shoes for you.

Isn't he darling?

Shhhhhh! Sam wants to keep it a secret from Ben until we bring him home.

And yes, I still love my inspiration! I'd take her in a minute if she were up for grabs. With or without the puppy.
