Oooh, more pictures!

Good news:

My friends, neighbors, and family are AWESOME!

I have an air cast - I can take it off and wash my foot! Ahhhhhhh.

I have an excuse to sit around all the time.

It's not very painful

If I'm careful, I may not need surgery.

I was able to ask him why it often hurts near my big toe and apparently I've got some arthritis there. Does this mean I'm officially getting old! I don't feel old.

Bad news:

12-16 week recovery time!

2 weeks on crutches (they gave me trouble for hobbling around without them) with minimal movement.

It's my driving foot.

Here's what I did, over on the right:

A side view:

And a side by side comparison -- just a bit swollen and bruised with a strange protuberance way over on the right.

I was chastised for giving up on the crutches too quickly and I was also told that my temporary cast looked as though it belonged to a teenager. Is that a compliment on my activity level or are they telling me I'm a slob?

The thing that has really struck me has been how wonderful everyone has been. People have been pitching in to help me with all sorts of things and I have to admit as a very independent person, it's very difficult for me to accept that help. I'm always happy to help others but when I need help I still feel guilty about it and I'm hesitant to ask. I am so grateful to everyone who is giving me a helping hand; it's making this whole thing so much easier!

What Beth said about the x-ray pictures! Loved them! That's some break you have there. I hadn't thought about that being you driving foot - ouch!
