Putting the boy to work
You know that closet that Ben worked on the other day? Yesterday I sanded, primed and painted the thing so all that stuff could finally be removed from the exercise room. And today I pulled out the tools needed to install some hooks for some added storage and that motived Ben to do it for me. I've found that that method of Ben motivation works much better than simply asking him to do something. And it takes him about half the time as me so it's a major win for me. But as he was working on installing the hooks, Sam finally figured out what to do with the toy drill that Joe and Lorie gave him for Christmas. So we put him to work.
Oh, an update on the Kirby situation. He's still with us. Ben is going to talk to the guy next week at some point because he wanted to think about it a bit. That means when I get back from Chicago Kirby could potentially be gone. I will be gone from Tuesday to Sunday next week for a little vacation sans Sam. This is the longest I'll have been away from him since he was born and I know I'm going to miss him. I'll get a chance to remember that I'm not just Sammy's mom! While I'm there I'll be catching up with friends and family in the area and I'm very much looking forward to seeing everyone. And my timing seems to be such that I'll be there just as this nice warm spell ends and the typical Feb. weather arrives.

I think it will be fine for Kirby to move to a new home. He doesn't seem happy with the diminished attention he gets now, and he might enjoy the change. And if he's miserable after the move, you can bet the new owner will BRING HIM BACK!!
It's still hard though - he's a sweet dog.
