Funny things catch Sam's attention

Last night we had dinner with some friends and they dropped the bombshell that they're moving to Ohio in the very near future. They're picking up and moving because of the general lack of jobs that lead to good opportunities. It's possible to be a big fish in a small sea in Vermont but it generally doesn't pay well and once you're near the top you need to find a new and larger sea if you're going to continue to be challenged. They say that living costs are much lower there too, not that that would be difficult. I absolutely hate it when friends move from the area but I understand the reasons. I love this place for many things but financially, it's a horrible place to live.

On our way out they gave us a potty chair that was no longer needed in their world and Sam carried that thing all over their house, to the car, then all over our house and up the stairs to the bathroom. After not using it for its intended use, he wanted to bring it to bed with him. I drew the line there although I allowed it to sit on the floor near the end of the bed. He was concerned that he couldn't see it in the dark.

This morning he brought it back in the bathroom and didn't use it but asked that his diaper be replaced by underpants. He brought the potty downstairs, plopped it up on the cofffee table and sat on it. I managed to convince him that potties stay on the floor, ran upstairs to do some errands and when I came back he told me that his pajamas were dirty. Two minutes after his fasination with the potty he obliviously did his business in his pants. He didn't protest the reapplication of a diaper.
