Watch out for old people

Last week we did a route for Meals on Wheels and during our adventures, Sam had the misfortune to fall down the steps at one of the high-rise retirement homes. He fell down about four steps and I noticed he had a bruise on his face from his little misadventure.

Sam had a really rough night the other night. He was awake from about 10pm-1am which means that we were also awake from 10pm-1am. At one point Ben was ignoring him and Sam was saying “I hurt my face on the steps.” Ben ignored him. “I hurt my face on the steps!” Ben ignored him. “I hurt my face on the steps!” Ben ignored him. Then a whispered rueful “From feeding old people.”

What a riot! I suppose feeding ducks and sheep is more amusing. At least they don't complain that you bring them too much food...

Do the old folks really complain that you bring them too much food??

Oh yes, one vicious gramma yelled at me. I knocked on the door and didn't hear anything so I knocked again and finally heard a "come in" and the woman gave me a disgusted look and said "Jesus!" She dragged her oxygen tank out of the way and then complained because I'd brought her too much food - 3 meals because it was over a weekend. I hope when I'm a crotchety old person I won't be a bitch. Actually, I hope to have a massive fatal heart attact so I don't go through a long lingering illness and become a crotchety old person. If I do get to be old, I'd rather just be eccentric.

Hmmm...sounds like pizza should be on the menu at meals on wheels next time...so you can just slide THAT lady's meal under the door!!
