We've been dealing with this (*(* peeing problem with Kirby for what seems like forever and today we brought him to the vet for the THIRD time to get him checked out. Motivation this time around was an email from my mom but also, I'd just watched "The Fastest Indian in the World" which is an excellent movie but the main character had prostate problems and his peeing in the movie seemed a lot like Kirby's peeing in real life. So guess what the vet discovered? An enlarged prostate which means he probably has prostate cancer since he's an old neutered dog. Gee, thanks Hollywood.
He's supposed to get an ultrasound and biopsy at some point next week but if they verify it, we have to decide what to do. It seems surgery and chemotherapy are called for and results of the surgery don't sound all that promising. We could make our doggie problems go from bad to worse.
And I'm really irritated that it took three trips to the vet to figure out he had an enlarged prostate!
So now I'm modifying my original question. Does anyone want a dog that pees on the floor and likely needs lots of expensive medical care? It gets more and more appealing all the time.
