We're having a rough day today

I don't know why although it probably has something to do with Sam honing his skills at pushing my very last button. It's raining cats and dogs outside and that doesn't help. Distraction methods today included visiting a friend (he clung to me and wouldn't go play for the first 45 minutes) and then going to Costco which isn't the most exciting thing in the world but hey we weren't home staring at each other bored out of our heads.

But now we're home again and between screaming in panic when I went to unlock the door leaving him in the car for a moment, begging me to help him make a barn out of a box as I tried to put away the Costco loot, refusing to eat lunch (leftovers of expensive organic pasta with meat sauce from last night), and just generally being a pill, I'm a little frazzled.

While I was cleaning up after lunch and doing miscellaneous things after lunch Sam decided he would go "shopping." As you can see, shopping means removing nearly everything from the cabinets. Notice that very little meets Ben's new eating guidelines, not even the eight cans of tuna that he bought himself. Granted, my cabinets needed to be reorganized anyway but when my reserves are just my very last nerve it's a little hard to remember that this is very harmless fun.

After a couple of deep breaths I helped him "check out" with a beep for each item and sometimes a comment about his "purchases." We put them away and to hell with the reorganization, I let him put them wherever he thought they belonged.

But now I'm trying to recharge my last nerve by parking him in front of the TV for 30 minutes, 30 beautiful quiet minutes.

Yay, television! Sometimes it's a godsend.

(works on adult boys, too)
