Bedtime = hell

So it appears that Sam will cry himself hoarse rather than go to sleep at night. Subborn little twerp. He's been doing it for the last couple of weeks but he's perfected his technique the last several nights, he's crying right now...1.5 hours of crying to be specific and he's exhausted. He's pitiful. He intentionally peed on the floor and I don't know what to do with him.

He won't go to sleep on his own. For the last year or more of I've tucked him in and walked out wishing him sweed dreams but now he wants one of us there when he goes to sleep. I don't WANT to stay there while he falls asleep. I don't think I should NEED to stay there while he falls alseep.

It's no different when Ben puts him to bed. Ben's able to tune it out better than me so it's not as bad for him but he's not enjoying this either.

I've come to dread evenings. I'm angry. I don't get a chance to relax. My shoulders are hugging my ears, I'm grinding my teeth, I'm nearly in tears, and I'm angry. Did I mention I'm angry? I don't like to be angry with him but I am.

Do I give in and get some peace? Do I stand my ground, lock him in the room, and go sit on the porch so I don't have to listen to him?

I'm sure our neighbors are thrilled with the way our evenings are filling their evenings....

Aaaaahhhhh, i remember those days unfondly....he's learning manipulation...the weather is nice..tuck him in, leave ben in the house to block him out, and you go out for a walk. Try not to give in..he'll remember that and use it to his advantage. I totally understand how you feel, anger is normal. I still get that way. The difference is i can tell mine when they piss me off now.
I remember tucking Caitlin into bed, and she'd stand at her door hysterically crying and banging her head against the door. My neighbors told me it sounded like i was beating her (hence the need to make your presence seen walking outside..lol). Of course they knew that wasn't the case...Good luck, it does get better. Soon he'll be sleeping his life away and you'll wonder if he's ever gonna get up to mow that new lawn.

Ugh, no fun at all. Luke went through a difficult bedtime phase, though nothing nearly as bad as this sounds. You know what I did? Changed up his routine a bit. I started offering him a bedtime snack, and that worked to break the spell, for some reason. Don't know that it will be your magic bullet, but it's worth a try.
