I pictured a lighthearted amusing morning with 10 three year olds and a mini-golf course. Why did no one tell me I was out of my ever-loving mind?
I brought Sam to his school and it was taking forever to get organized so I started reading a story to Sam and of course the other kids immediately surrounded me and started shoving books in my direction "this one next!" As each new kid joined the fold Sam, who was sitting on my lap, got more and more sulky. He finally got to the point where he just turned around and buried his head in my lap and wouldn't look up.
Why didn't I predict this? What was I thinking? He's not used to sharing me with other kids.
In the car on the way to the golf course he complained and whined and was so miserable I was beginning to wonder if he was getting sick.
At the golf course he sulked, didn't listen, slammed the clubs around, and cried to go home. Fun fun fun!
After the "game" which must be interpreted loosely since it was a free for all of small children hitting balls every which way but into the hole (no scoring, that would have been insane!) we sat down to have a snack where he again, he sulked and acted in a manner unbecoming a preschooler.
The field trip ended with a game of duck duck goose. I sat next to him at his insistence and all was well until he was "goose!" He giggled in delight while chasing the other child but when the other child SAT DOWN IN HIS SPOT NEXT TO HIS MAMA all hell broke loose! How dare that child sit next to HIS mama?
I'm not anxious to chaperone again for some strange reason.

Excuse me, but I distinctly remember that I DID tell you that you were out of your ever-loving mind for agreeing to chaperone 10 three year olds on a mini-golf course! (although I didn't anticipate the jealousy issue- I just thought three is too young to grasp the mental and physical aspects of mini-golf ...) In MY experience, you should wait til the kids are at least five, and then take them to a zoo or an animal park. :-)
listen to the non mum.....in MY experience.....too funny beth....
