This morning we headed out to get some shoes for Sam and I didn't want him to be tempted by all the shoes with various cartoon characters (for some strange reason he doesn't share my disdain for such things) so we went to the fancy store here that carries shoes as well as toys and kiddie furniture.
We found some shoes (size 12!) first since I knew it wouldn't happen if he was distracted by toys. Then we looked at toys and Sam wanted everything under the sun so I told him I'd write down the item as well as the price so he could "think about it" later and then decide what he could buy with the money he had. He wanted everything and he wanted me to write everything down as well. These are the things he watched me write down, there were lots I didn't bother with though...

What did he play with while he was there? International Playthings iPlay Tick Tock Apple Clock Did he ask me to put that on the list? Absolutely not; he was too distracted actually playing with the thing.
The only thing I thought he might really like was a toy cash register but they didn't have itopen for the kids to check out. Interesting that this is more than $20 cheaper than the store. I'm afraid if I got that for him he'd want to play store all the time and I'd find all my canned goods in his toybox. But I think he'd like it.
But all of that is a very long lead in to what happened next. We ran into some friends at about this point and Sam and Lily were checking out all the bunkbeds. They've got some very cool stuff
Sam climbed up this one and decided to jump off the top. Short flight, hard landing, crying, and ultimately severe limping. He's having trouble putting weight on his foot. It's not swollen but he can't walk on it. We went home discussing the problem "they should have had a softer floor!" was Sam's take on the matter. Right now he's got the foot propped up, it's iced, and he's been dosed with ibprofen. If he's still unable to walk in an hour or so we'll be off to the immediate care center because these things always happen on a weekend or evening, any time the pediatrician's office is closed.
Keep your fingers crossed for us, will you?
