Awe

Sam is growing and it is never more obvious than when he's just out of his bath. His long, lean, strong body is perfection even with the bumps, scrapes, and bruises that show he's active and that he's inherited his coordination from me. His legs seem to go on forever and each muscle is outlined as he moves. I'm always amazed at how he's changed over these four years; how grown he is and at the same time, how much he has to learn.

He moves so freely, without regard to the opinions of others and without thinking about his body in any way. He takes for granted that it will do everything he demands of it but he doesn't think of it as anything other than a set of parts that just IS him. When he's hungry, he eats, when he's tired, he sleeps, when he's feeling good, he runs and jumps and relishes the things he can do.

I hope he will always maintain this freedom and confidence.
