Now, this letter is so charming I just had to post it here. It's typed and it has stickers!
In case you can't read it:
Dear Sam:
It was so nice to see you on Saturday when you came to my house.
Thank you for helping me pick up the sticks under the trees.
I have two woodchucks living in my field. On lives in his big hole in the ground; the other lives in a pile of rocks where he has a cozy burrow.
I love my land. I love Vermont. Do you?
I love you, too.
Susu
Sam answered the question with a resounding "Yes!" when I read the letter to him. He wanted to respond to her letter immediately. He asked me to help him with the envelop so of course I did but I never saw what he put inside; perhaps there was nothing in it at all. But he spent a little extra time and decorated the envelop as such:
I'm sure the post office is less than thrilled with his extensive use of tape and decoration on anything he mails but I love how much care he takes with each one and I hope the recipients are also taken with his letter creations.

I got a little teary eyed reading her letter. My grandmother sent many letters like this to me all through my life, including when I was in college. I still have almost all of them. She wrote to my kids, too.
hehe...that's a very sweet letter. Luke and Abbie's gran sometimes writes this sort of letter to them. She told them all about the squirrel that would come to her porch every day to fetch a half walnut shell filled with peanut butter.
