Cash happy

Ben sold his motorcycle! Yay! He emailed me at work:

"Bike sold today.

Got $12,000. The guy showed up with cash and drove it away. Not used to carrying that much cash, but not going to say no to it I suppose."

Cash? Who has $12,000 in CASH? All $50 and $100 bills. Unfortunately Ben didn't take a picture of the big wad of cash or I'd definitely be posting that on the blog.

It certainly raises questions though, mainly the source of funds. Drug money? Ben said the guy didn't seem like the type so maybe he's the type who hides his cash under his mattress because he doesn't trust banks.

Of course then there is the other question...is it counterfeit? Ben was late getting home with Sam and I was beginning to wonder if he'd gone to the bank and they determined it was counterfeit so he was sitting at the police station undergoing questioning and therefore unable to pick Sam up as planned. Of course, all my TV watching informed me that he should at least have gotten to make one call and hopefully that would have been to me.

The drama was all in my head though as Ben showed up shortly after I'd built this scenario.

Of course bringing that much cash to the bank brings its own complications -- paperwork!

Another huge advantage in selling the bike? Garage space!

Yay! Congratulations!

Might've been a good idea to bring $9,000 cash to the bank, and then deposit the rest another time. I think it's $10,000 cash that triggers all the paperwork.

But anyway! Glad the bike is gone, for multiple reasons! Now go buy something else. :-)
