Pronounciation through distraction

Sam went through a stage where he thought it was cute to say "Yes Mudder" when I asked him to do something. "Mudder?" Who is this blasted "Mudder?" Rather than let him know that it got under my skin I told him that it's pronounced with a "th" sound in the middle, not a "d" sound. I showed him how my tongue came forward between my teeth when I said it. I demonstrated repeatedly.

He practiced. And practiced. And practiced!

He's now found the joy of the "th" sound in many words, demonstrated today in an excellent "further", and the dreaded "Yes Mudder" or even "Yes Mother" have not been heard again.
