Don't tell Sam but today I filled the advent calendar; I just couldn't wait. I love doing this because it brings him so much joy. I won't torture him by putting it out before he can start opening the little boxes on Monday but I'm tempted.
This calendar is terrific! There are individual little boxes meant to be flipped over after they're emptied. The back of the boxes form a picture on Dec. 24. When I got it a couple of years ago it was filled with mediocre chocolates that Sam didn't love. Last year I filled it with things I thought Sam would like better and this year I made sure that all of them were filled with things in the gummy and sweet family Sam prefers over the high quality chocolates family preferred by most adults.
And in other Christmas related news, remember the skateboard? I hid it in Ben's office behind a bookcase. Guess who found it? Ben told him that I was keeping it for a friend and at least Ben mentioned that he told Sam that so when Sam asked me about it later, I was able to tell him the same story. I won't mention that the friend is him! Sam asked if he could use it until I gave it to my friend and I had to do a little quick thinking and tell him that he couldn't because he didn't have a proper helmet.
So now Ben and I are both guilty of ruining gift surprises for our little dude so I can't give Ben trouble about it any longer. Well, maybe I can; at least the skateboard wasn't in plain sight!
We need better hiding places.

We have the same advent calendar. Last week Madison picked out the candy for it so she could ensure it'd be stuff she likes.
You guys need help with hiding gifts! Next time I'm out there I'll check the place out and tell you where to stash stuff. I'm pretty good at it.
