How shall I celebrate my one year blogaversary?

Doesn't it seem as though I should do something wild and crazy? Smear cake on my face? Perhaps something at least mildly interesting.

Or maybe I should just go have a drink and celebrate that Sam made it through an entire day in "big boy underpants" with only one accident -- and he was at "school!" I lack confidence in his abilities but I'm going to give him a fighting chance. And I have no idea what sparked his interest; it certainly wasn't anything I did.

Perhaps my lack of posting lately indicates that very little is happening around here but if you're looking for distraction, go see "The Queen." Do not read "Enduring Love" by Ean McEwan unless you have a high tolerance for pretentious prose. It had a promising start but then it got bogged down in the author's fastination with his own thought process, every tedius detail, until I nearly threw the book at the wall. Ah yes, some may call it building a mood but the only reason I slogged through it was because it is our book club selection for this month. Eventually it came to an unexpected conclusion that appeared out of nowhere and was very inconsistent with the rest of the story.

Any suggestions for the next book for the book club?

Yeah on the one year anniversery, and the big boy underpants!!

For your next book, I would suggest "The Kite Runner". I know...it's old news, but I just read it, and it was very good.

I've already read "The Kite Runner" and it was an excellent book!

More suggestions please!

I loved the Kite Runner - I didn't know you read it too! I bawled at the end.
I just checked my reading log and quite a while ago I read one called "Expecting Adam". I vaguely remember it. In my log, I wrote "great". It's on amazon - I'd imagine it would spark discussion.
If you really want to be depressed, read "A Fine Balance". Super depressing but wow, such an incredibly rich story. I did throw it at the wall more than once.

Best book i've read in a while is Marley and Me, though i don't think enough time has passed for you to get thru it without major crying. I was sobbing out loud by the end....and have you tried M&M's with sam? it is supposed to do the trick....i don't k now...robin trained herself, now if i could just train her to clean and pack her room....moving day is nine days away..yikes...

LisaTV - funny you should mention "A Fine Balance" because I was discussing that with a woman from work. And do you remember that we read it at about the same time? Ages ago. In a past life almost.

And wasn't "Expecting Adam" about the down's baby? I think I recommended that to you.

Phyllis - does Marley and Me involve a kid dying? I just can't seem to handle that stuff now.

No kids die....the dog will hit close to home, but for anyone who's ever loved a dog, its the best book. its been on the best seller list for almost a year. I found it to be the best book i've read in years.
